2015 Football Blogging Awards: Meet the finalists – FootballTips

Published:

The annual Football Blogging Awards are almost upon us and the nominees will soon find out if they are to be crowned best in their category.

This year’s ceremony will take place in Manchester on Thursday and Ladbrokes is adding to the buzz by sponsoring the Best Gambling Football Blog prize.

All of the blogs named on the shortlist have put in the time and effort to give punters the edge when making their selections but only one can be crowned king.

All week we’ve been taking a behind the scenes look at those featured on the shortlist and today is the turn of FootballTips.

Read on to see how it goes down in the FT office…

Ladbrokes News: Describe your blog in a nutshell

Football Tips: We combine football betting tips, expert opinions and plenty of fun every single day. A committed team of football fans, we love a bet and letting our readers know about the best offers.

You’ve got to throw in some fun though and our team is all bursting with (sometimes unpopular) views that they like to express in weekly columns. Basically, we’ve got it all covered and wake up each day with our football head on!

LN: Describe a day in the life of a Football Tips blogger

FT: Sky Sports News is on in the office all day, naturally. We keep on top of all the best breaking news, while adding tips for the day’s football and running our various social media pages.

Whether it’s creating a debate on @Footballtips or posting about the matches we’re watching on @livefootball – every second is about football.

We’ll have daily team meetings about the big events coming up and discuss what our readers would want to see. Live tweeting happens every time there are matches on too, with the rest of the time devoted to betting previews and expert blogs on the site.

Once a day is done… it’s onto the next one!

LN:  Which story are you most proud of?

FT: We’ve had lots of winning bets to be proud of, but sometimes it’s the opinion pieces that get positive reactions that really bring in the satisfaction.

It’s sometimes good to focus on a specific club and not always the big boys. Leeds United fans enjoyed this recently for example:

Most of all though, we’re proud of giving thousands of readers something interesting and topical every single day.

To cap this progress off with an award as big as this one? It would be very special.

LN: Send us the best behind the scenes picture of life at Football Tips

FT: If Footballtips did board rooms, these would probably be the best board rooms in the world.

LN: What would it mean to win the Best Gambling Football Blog 2015?

FT: It would be a huge honour and superb recognition for how far we have come. We are a good group of football fans and journalists and every single one of us is proud of the website Footballtips.com has become.
