Where does doomed Chelsea boss need to go next to find his mojo?

It is no longer a question of if Jose Mourinho is sacked as Chelsea manager according to the morning’s papers, but when.

The Portuguese manager’s dramatic fall from grace has all-but been confirmed, with the Daily Mirror sprawling the word “FINISHED” across their back page, above a picture of a glum looking Mourinho.

Indeed, the BBC’s daily gossip column dedicated their entire top section to the beleaguered boss. Collecting reports from around the country, they suggested Mourinho could move on quickly from his Blues nightmare.

Apparently Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Monaco are all potential landing spots for the Special One, but they all seem rather run of the mill. Here’s three alternative managerial directions Mourinho could take to rediscover his mojo:

Major League Soccer

Travelling across the Atlantic to play in America’s top league is fast becoming the modern way for ageing players, but as yet no big-name manager has stalked their sidelines.

Mourinho is proud of his history in breaking new ground among his peers and, unless you count Owen Coyle, would be far and away the most illustrious manager to work in the MLS.

If anything is going to bring the 52-year-old’s smug disposition back its adding multi-continental success to his European domination.

A national team

Fernando Santos is Portugal’s current national coach and should be in place for Euro 2016 having guided A Seleccao to top spot in Group I of the qualifiers.

Depending on how the 61-year-old fares in France, a spot could open up for Mourinho to have a crack at bringing the 2018 World Cup back to his homeland.

Alternatively, Mourinho could replace Roy Hodgson as England boss. It’s a role that has tempted him in the past and would again hand him the chance for World Cup glory.

With both nations quoted at 20/1 with Ladbrokes, it won’t be an easy task.

Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola is being increasingly linked with Mourinho’s job at Chelsea. Such is the rivalry between the two that taking over at Guardiola’s current club and trying to outdo him would motivate Mourinho greatly.

Naturally, the Spaniard has made the Bundesliga something of a precession for the Bavarians, but it’s his failings in Europe that the Special One would be particularly keen to better.
