West Brom boss: England should hire “Pardiola” not Guardiola

West Brom and Crystal Palace will light the blue touch paper for another round of Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime and ahead of the fixture, the Baggies boss was in complimentary mood about his opposite number.
Offering his viewpoint on the debate surrounding Roy Hodgson’s potential successor, with the current England manager’s contract up at the end of Euro 2016, Tony Pulis put forward Alan Pardew as a strong candidate.
“Knowing Roy he will want to do the Euros and the next World Cup, but if you’re looking for the next England manager Pardew’s got to be looked at. He would definitely come into the frame for me.
“He’s done very well everywhere he’s been. He’s done a fantastic job at Newcastle and I don’t think he got the credit he deserved. Now he’s gone to Palace and picked it up,” said Pulis.
Indeed a measure of this success can be found in the match betting where Palace, who sit eight spots above the 15th-place Baggies in the table, are priced as 5/6 favourites for victory at Selhurst Park.
Pardew is certainly right up there in the list of eligible candidates according to Ladbrokes, with the bookmaker installing the Eagles boss as the 8/1 second favourite, behind 7/1 shot Gary Neville.
The former Manchester United right-back is already part of Hodgson’s Three Lions coaching staff, but whether he would be ready to leap straight into the hot seat without any prior managerial experience is questionable.
Pardew certainly has the strongest credentials of any English manager currently in a top post, though there has even been speculation that Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is to be approached by the FA.
The Spaniard’s Bayern contract is up for renewal at the end of the season, but judging by the way the German side have begun their campaign, the powers that be at the Allianz Arena will be ultra keen to keep him in Munich.
