Warburton and Waghorn maintain Rangers’ awards stranglehold

Published:

Rangers manager Mark Warburton and striker Martyn Waghorn have maintained the Ibrox club’s stranglehold on all the silverware available to Championship clubs with another double swoop on Ladbrokes’ awards offerings.

Warburton, who was named Manager of the Month for August, has retained his title after seeing his side maintain their 100 per cent record in the Scottish second tier.

Rangers have now won nine consecutive games in the league after beating Morton (4-0), Dumbarton (2-1), Livingston (3-0) and Raith Rovers (5-0) in September.

Warburton, who had defender James Tavernier at his side last month, was again joined by one of his own players after Waghorn was named Player of the Month for September.

The former Wigan, Millwall, Hull, Leicester, Charlton and Sunderland striker has really found his shooting boots north of the border and a haul of eight goals in four league games in September meant their was little doubt when the awards panel met in Glasgow to decide this month’s winners.

The odds suggest both Warburton and Waghorn could add more monthly awards to their collections before the season is through, with Rangers now 1/100 to win the Ladbrokes Championship and Waghorn now as short as 1/10 to top the second tier scoring charts.
