Swansea v Stoke: The visitors represent the value play in Wales

Published:

Although their league positions portray a different story, Swansea and Stoke meet on Monday Night Football in contrasting runs of form.

Looking solely at the Premier League table, Swansea would be regarded favourites for the clash at the Liberty Stadium. They sit in 13th to Stoke’s 16th ahead of the clash, but in reality haven’t won in the top flight since beating Manchester United five games ago.

The Potters, on the other hand, are on the rise having been victorious in their previous two games, extending their unbeaten run in the division to three.

The match odds suggest it’s the Welshmen that are best placed to triumph though, with Ladbrokes pricing them at 21/20. Stoke are available at 3/1 and the draw is a 12/5 chance.

Garry Monk’s side are unbeaten on their own patch, both this season and in their last five against Stoke, so do have some basis for claiming the advantage in the betting. However the odds on Mark Hughes’ men represent the real value.

Only Arsenal have managed to defeat Stoke as a home side this season, with both Tottenham and Norwich drawing with the Britannia Stadium club and Aston Villa slipping to a 1-0 loss last time out.

Considering Swansea’s overall form and the hard-to-beat resolve Stoke bring to Wales, 3/1 is certainly worth some interest.

The Potters have won both of their last two away games 1-0 in all competitions and a third straight scoreline of that nature can be backed at 9/1 with Ladbrokes.

Alternatively, some special offers from the bookmaker could be the way to play things. As a televised British match, the Sharp Shooter* offer is naturally available, while there is also a price boost to consider.

Swansea winning and both teams scoring is out from 7/2 to 9/2 until the time of kick off.
