St Mirren to grab obligatory goal but Rangers to take points

Published:

Can anybody stop the runaway train that is Rangers in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship this season?

The answer is probably yes. Even after 10 wins from 10 games, the Gers are bound to have an off day at some point.

However, halting this magnificent 100 per cent record may just be out of the reach of their next opponents St Mirren.

Despite an upturn in their own form, the Buddies have already felt the full force of Mark Warburton’s rampaging visitors on the opening day of the season, when going down 3-1 at Ibrox.

In their last league outing at St Mirren Park, Ian Murray’s side were held 1-1 by struggling Alloa, while the Gers last away assignment saw them pummel Morton 4-0.

The hosts’ odds of 8/1 reveal the size of the challenge they face against a Rangers side who’ve averaged just over three goals per game in the Championship this season and only conceded six across their 10 games.

Punters won’t be flooding to the rather skinny 3/10 on the Glasgow club to continue their run, but the history of this fixture suggests there’s real attraction on Ladbrokes’ headline promotion on the match.

Only Morton have prevented Murray’s side scoring in 14 games this season, and as they did at Ibrox, albeit in defeat, the Buddies have a habit of at least gracing the scoresheet against the Gers.

Meanwhile, St Mirren have registered in their last five clashes against Rangers, though they’ve been on the losing side in four of those.
Ladbrokes are enhancing the odds on the Rangers win with both teams scoring, from 7/4 out to 9/4.

Don’t forget that this televised Sunday game is also eligible for Ladbrokes’ Sharp Shooter* offer on first goalscorer bets too.
