Shock poll reveals fans favour a Premier League winter break

Published:

Louis van Gaal’s recent contribution to the great ‘winter break debate’ has struck a chord with football fans, according to the results of our latest poll.

Manchester United supremo Van Gaal has described the lack of a winter break in England as ‘evil’ and even went so far as to say the current schedule is having a negative impact on the national team’s performance.

In response to the Dutchman’s comments we asked you whether you thought England’s top-flight should adopt a similar system to that already found in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

And an eye-catching 62 per cent of Ladbrokes News readers have voted in favour of the Premier League introducing a mid-season interval.

The Red Devils are set to play seven fixtures between 12 December and 13 January so you can perhaps understand their manager’s viewpoint.

However, given English football’s tradition of hosting matches throughout the festive period, this latest message from the fans is a little surprising.

Would introducing a winter break be good for the Premier League and for the England team?

Our poll result suggests it would be a positive move. But you can keep having your say in the comments selection below or via @Ladbrokes!
