Qualification means Wales can show off against struggling Andorra

Published:

Despite the loss in Bosnia, Wales can now bask in the glow of Euro 2016 qualification and look forward to next summer in France.

It will be their first major tournament since 1958,and reaching it with a game to spare is a huge achievement.

Gareth Bale is undoubtedly the star of this side, leading their scoring charts with five and winning Welsh player of the year.

He’s opened the scoring three times, more than any of his teammates, and backing him to do so again comes in at 6/4 which is a great shout for anyone looking to utilise the Sharp Shooter* offer.

Despite all the positives, the Dragons, with nine, have the second lowest amount of goals scored in their group, with Andorra’s four the only amount trailing.

That’s an average of one goal a game, and they’ve only managed to score two or more on three occasions, which is the same number of times they’ve been goalless.

Across all the groups, Bale and company have netted less than three teams eliminated from the competition, they are Scotland (22), Georgia (10) and Montenegro (10).

In defence of Chris Coleman’s men, it’s fair to say that they would have a higher tally if they had faced tomorrow’s opponents earlier.

Andorra have conceded 34 goals in qualifying, the joint second worst defensive record, with only Gibraltar(56) shipping more and San Marino level.

In only four away games, they’ve let in 18 goals and failed to score, with the best result in that run being a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

That means an average of 4.5 goals given away when on their travels, and this provides Wales with a fantastic opportunity to boost their goal difference.

With the positive mood in Cardiff likely to round that average up, backing the Dragons to win 5-0 at 6/1 is by no means a shot in the dark.

Combining this scoreline with the highly likely situation of Bale scoring first is priced at 9/1.
