Put your faith in some Ryan Moore magic at the Breeders’ Cup

Ryan Moore is a near-unstoppable jockey when he is at his best, with his partnership with Aidan O’Brien yielding six Group 1 successes in the past seven months. If they can continue that record across the pond at the Breeders’ Cup, punters could be rewarded handsomely.
With the action at Keeneland just hours away Ladbrokes have priced up a number of specials for the Kentucky bonanza.
The bookmaker has opened a market on the number of winners the jockey will land in Lexington, and it could pay to be ambitious.
A price of 50/1 on Moore bagging four or more victories may suggest the notion is a wild one, but it might just be a spot of value.
He may have drawn a blank from his six rides in 2014, but a look back a year further offers plenty of encouragement.
From six rides, Moore picked up a couple of victories – on Dank in the Filly & Mare Turf, and Magician in the Turf – as well as finishing second on Giovanni Boldini in the Juvenile Turf.
That’s not too bad a return from a sextet of rides that were sent off with an average SP of just over 10/1.
This time round the 32-year-old jockey has eight mounts at the ‘World Championships’ meeting.
Amongst those include Even money favourite Legatissimo for David Wachman and 9/2 dark horse Time Test in the Breeders’ Cup Mile for Roger Charlton.
That pair are the perfect foil for Moore’s Ballydoyle raiding party.
Hit It A Bomb get things moving in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf this evening, while Alice Springs is equally well fancied in the fillies’ equivalent.
Throw in Found, who will be far less inconvenienced by the soft ground than the favourite in the Turf, Golden Horn, and dual-Guineas winner Gleneagles who could yet show that a dirt surface is the catalyst for a revival in the Classic.
Even his rides on relative outsiders cannot be discounted.
War Envoy goes in the Dirt Mile, and while he hasn’t been the most consistent this term, he is bred for the dirt and is in a race that has thrown up the odd shock or two – there have been three winners in the past five years priced at 16/1 or bigger.
In total, Moore is set to get the leg-up on three favourites as well as two horses second or third in the betting at the meeting, with his book of rides currently offering an average price of around 7/1.
It will be a big ask to bag a four-timer on the world stage, but at a massive price it would seem silly to let it pass by.
