Man United v Man City: Goals aplenty in store on derby day

Published:

Super Sunday rarely lives up to its billing in the Premier League but with this week offering both the Tyne and Wear and Manchester derbies the name truly seems apt.

United and City meet at 14:05 at Old Trafford, with the hosts priced up as marginal 6/4 favourites, the guests at 7/4 and the draw available at 23/10.

However, with recent meetings between the two producing a staggering amount of goals, there is better value to be had.

The last nine clashes have produced no fewer than 36 strikes, with seven of those games seeing over 2.5 and five seeing over 4.5 goals.

With this in mind the 4/5 on over 2.5 could tempt, while the 9/2 on over 4.5 could prove the bet of the day.

However, while both sides have poured in the goals in this fixture, City will be without Sergio Aguero and with the Argentine responsible for six of City’s last 11 goals against United the Citizens will need someone else to step and fill the void.

Step forward, Raheem Sterling. The diminutive England man has netted six times this season and with four of those strikes coming in his last three games no one looks better placed to take the game to the hosts.

And should the former Liverpool man net in an away win Ladbrokes customers could be quids in with these great prices:

Raheem Sterling to score and City to win – 9/2

Those expecting a home win can also able to take advantage of some great prices.

United captain Wayne Rooney has scored five goals in the last eight meetings and with eight goals in his last 11 games for club and country the following selection could attract plenty of attention.

Wayne Rooney to score and United to win – 4/1

With Ladbrokes also offering double odds on first goalscorers through its famous Sharp Shooter promotion and Money Back  on losing bets if both teams score this is shaping up to be one hell of a derby.
