Leicester win showcases resolve at the King Power club

A 2-1 win over Norwich on Saturday saw Leicester claim a fourth win of the season, and showed that the Foxes won’t be scared by the odd bad result.

Having lost 5-2 at home to Arsenal the week before, some may have seen that game as the end of Leicester’s fine start to the year as the league’s longest unbeaten start came to an end.

Goals from Jamie Vardy – his seventh of the season, and Jeffrey Schlupp however were enough to see Claudio Ranieri’s men claim the points at Carrow Road.

The Foxes sit fifth going in to the international break, and are now 10/11 to finish in the top 10 this season.

The east Midlands club were 6/4 before the weekend, with Saturday’s win perhaps the biggest indicator yet that they can compete in the top half for the entire campaign.

With fixtures coming up that, on paper at least, look plenty winnable, one can expect to see Leicester very much in the top ten throughout the next month or two at least.

Ranieri’s team are 17/2 for a top six finish, but with regular top six occupants Liverpool and Chelsea still way off the pace, that price may shorten should the Foxes pick up more points against the likes of Watford, West Brom and Newcastle, all of whom they play in the next five games.

Meanwhile Jamie Vardy is continuing his excellent vein of form.

Despite Aguero’s five-goal haul for Manchester City against Newcastle, Vardy’s strike on Saturday ensured the Englishman remains top of the goals charts.

The 28-year-old is on seven for the season, a season which he was 80/1 to be top goalscorer for less than a month ago.

The former Fleetwood man is now 20/1 for the accolade, in from 25/1 last week.

Aguero may be the heavy favourite at 10/11– especially after his antics on Saturday afternoon – but Vardy should still be worth consideration – perhaps each way, as he becomes ever more prominent as Leicester’s attacking force.
