Ladbrokes Championship: Rangers leave it late but perfect run remains

Rangers were just moments away from seeing their perfect Ladbrokes Championship start come to an end on Saturday, until Martyn Waghorn stepped in.
Waghorn netted in the 89th minute to complete a 2-1 win for Rangers at home to Queen of the South and make it 10 wins from 10 for the Ibrox club, while second place is now held by Raith Rovers after another narrow win.

Rangers had to work hard in front of their home fans after Derek Lyle put Queen of the South 1-0 up after 35 minutes on Saturday.
The visitors held on until eight minutes after the interval, when Jason Holt restored parity.
With full-time and Rangers’ first dropped points looming however, the Glasgow side had the chance to snatch the win after winning a penalty with a minute to go.
Waghorn’s spot-kick was saved but Queen’s joy was short-lived as the Englishman secured the three points just a minute later with a header – the first headed goal under Warburton’s reign at the club.
Still nine points behind the leaders are Raith after a fifth-successive league win of the season.
Grant Anderson’s effort 11 minutes from time was enough to claim the win at Alloa, and each of those five Raith wins have come by single-goal margins.
Rovers are 14/1 to be promoted this season, a price which will only shorten further should they maintain their current form.
Hibs remain third, two points behind but with a game in hand on Rovers, after a 4-2 win against Dumbarton at Easter Road.
First-half goals from Dominique Malonga, Liam Fontaine and a Jason Cummings penalty, plus a fourth on the hour from James Keatings consigned Dumbarton to a sixth loss of the season.
Falkirk and St Mirren both picked up 1-0 wins against Morton and Livingston respectively.
Lee Miller’s injury-time strike for Falkirk bagged a first win in four games for the Bairns but it was a cruel blow for Morton who have now lost four in succession.
Sean Mallon added to his two Challenge Cup goals last time out with the winner for St Mirren, who are now three unbeaten in the league, while Livingston remain a point adrift at the foot of the table.
Livi are 7/5 to finish bottom of the Ladbrokes Championship this term, with Alloa currently at 11/10.
