Ladbrokes Championship: Raith Rovers’ run ends at home to Hibs

It proved to be a great weekend for away sides in the Ladbrokes Championship, with four of the five matches seeing all three points taken by the visitors in a weekend of no draws.
Raith went into Saturday’s home game with Hibernian knowing they could go second if results went their way.
Instead they saw a five-game winning run come to an end after Hibs scored twice in the first half through John McGinn and Jason Cummings.
A Jon Daly reply in the second half wasn’t enough for Rovers, who now sit fourth, five points behind Hibs in second with the Edinburgh side now 9/4 to be promoted this term.
The Hibees had temporarily reduced Rangers’ lead at the top to five points, but Mark Warburton’s men soon re-established their advantage on Sunday afternoon.
Jason Holt’s 25th minute effort was enough to see off a valiant St Mirren, and the Gers’ are now 11 wins from 11 games with an eight-point advantage.
Holt’s goal could prove pivotal later this season, with Hibs and Rangers facing off this coming Sunday.
The defeat was St Mirren’s first in four games, and they now drop to seventh.
That’s because Morton are sixth after finally ending their miserable run of form with a 1-0 home win against Alloa who are now 8/11 from 11/10 to finish bottom this season.
The hosts were winless in six games – losing their last four – before Ross Forbes’ early second-half goal gave the Pride of the Clyde a long-awaited success.
Alloa’s defeat allowed Livingston to move off the bottom after they produced perhaps their finest performance of the year to thrash Queen of the South 4-1.
Dale Hilson had given Queens a first-half lead, but Livi piled in four goals in a rampant second-half performance to claim their biggest win of the season.
For the Doonhammers however, it was the latest worrying result in a run which has yielded just one win and two draws from nine league games.
The final game of the weekend saw the biggest victory as Falkirk put five past Dumbarton to move third above Raith.
John Baird helped himself to a hat-trick before the hour, while goals from Robert McHugh and Blair Alston secured the Bairns’ biggest league win since a 6-0 success over Cowdenbeath on exactly the same weekend 12 months ago.
