Ladbrokes Championship: In-form Raith could be hit early by Hibs

While a certain Glasgow outfit may be running away with things at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship there is still plenty more to play for in behind.

The chasing trio of Hibernian, Raith and Falkirk have an early hold on the play-off places, but with the latter stuttering recently, could one of the stalking pack pounce?

We’ve had a look at all four contests in the division this Saturday and picked out a few of the best wagers available.

Dumbarton v Falkirk

It’s not been a successful few weeks for Falkirk with the Bairns netting just twice in their last five games in all competitions, conceding 12 in the process.

They will be hoping to add to their one win in that period against a Dumbarton side that have just a victory against bottom-dwellers Livingston and a goalless draw against Morton to show for their last eight league outings.

The Sons have only kept one clean sheet in their last 19 competitive fixtures, but with their visitors this week hardly in a rich vein of form themselves, we could see the odd goal decide this one.

Best Bet – Under 2.5 goals @ Evens

Greenock Morton v Alloa Athletic

You have to go back to September 5 for the last win from either of these two sides, with the pair netting just once between them in their last six combined matches.

Conceding, and conceding late, hasn’t been a problem for Morton though, with the Ton’s opponents in five of their last six matches in all competitions scoring in the last 10 minutes.

The dearth of goals from these two could come to an end here with Alloa managing to keep just one clean sheet on the road. Athletic are 9/2 to come from behind and get at least a point, with Morton’s late lapses making it an interesting play.

Queen of the South v Livingston

Tenth-placed Livingston have only managed to avoid defeat once in their last eight games, that coming against fellow strugglers Alloa.

This fixture could be a fantastic opportunity to improve on a record that has seen Queens win just one in nine, and keep the pressure on Falkirk in the final promotion play-off place.

The two sides have met twice this season already, Livi securing an extra time success in the Petrofac Training Cup, while the hosts were victorious by the odd goal on their trip to Almondvale.

James Fowler’s men can bag three points, but if previous clashes are anything to go by, it won’t be comprehensive.

Best Bet – Queen of the South to win by one goal @ 13/5

Raith Rovers v Hibernian

Two of the Championship’s form teams – Rangers aside – clash at Stark’s Park, with Raith winning five of their last six and Hibs successful in eight of their last nine fixtures.

The Edinburgh outfit will be looking to Jason Cummings to lead the way once again with the striker netting in 16 of his last 22 fixtures for the Hibees. He’s 4/1 to score first or 6/4 to bag anytime.

Whether a goal from the 20-year-old would be enough for victory remains to be seen, but backing the visitors to go in at the break in front looks solid enough value.

Alan Stubbs’ men have only conceded five first-half goals in their last 25 fixtures, and with their striker in fine form they could be enjoying their mid-match oranges with a solid advantage.
