Kamara: Mourinho is right, his Chelsea team is fighting for him

Jose Mourinho suggested that his Chelsea players proved the media were “stupid” after their defeat to Stoke in the Capital One Cup, after some accused his side of not performing for their boss, and I think he’s spot on.
I was at West Ham and when they went down to 10 men last weekend, they didn’t look like a bunch of players that were trying to get their manager sacked, that’s for sure.
They were 10 players, trying their best to get a result. They almost got a draw out of it until Andy Carroll entered the fray, but they were battling and fighting tooth and nail for the manager.
If I were a manager having a bad run for the first time in my career, and I’m sure Jose Mourinho feels the same way, then the first thing I would want to do is put the record straight and sort everything out and make sure the team is focused on the task at hand.
From Mourinho’s point of view, if the chairman decides that the fact they are not challenging for the title and they are out of the Capital One Cup is enough to sack him, the truth is, there is nothing Jose can do about that. He can’t second guess what Roman Abramovich is going to do.
What we do know is that they have got too many good players for their form not to turn around at some point.
It’s just one of those periods in his career. Most managers will have them over the years.
Sir Alex Ferguson went through one or two, Arsene Wenger has had his moments, but those two came through it at the other end.
Jose Mourinho is having one of those periods for the first time in his career. It’s one of those frustrating things where everything you do, and everything you try doesn’t work out.
The most difficult part for him is now working out how to change things around.
When you look at what he has done, and what he has won over the years, for this to be the first major blip in his career is absolutely amazing.
He’s the most successful manager that Chelsea have had, it’s as simple as that.
Abramovich brought him back in the first place and he won the title in his second season back.
He’s not going to do that this term, but if the owner has a bit of patience they will certainly be challenging next season.
