Kamara: Eddie Howe can overcome Wilson injury and reach the top

The news that Callum Wilson will face six months on the sidelines is a real killer for Bournemouth after the excellent start to the season they have had.

To lose their top goalscorer, as well as Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel, as a manager you must be thinking “what have we done to deserve this?”

It’s all conspired against them and survival is going to be hard for them now.

Wilson had settled into Premier League life straight away and looked like someone who could go on to play for England.

He terrorised defences in the Championship, and then he terrorised Sunderland when I watched them, and didn’t give Leicester’s back-line a minute’s peace either the week before that.

On the flip side we are talking about a really good manager in the shape of Eddie Howe.

We’re talking about a man that’s got a real good chance to go on to manage not just the top teams in England but the top teams in the world.

He’s got them up from the brink and is set to have a big career in front of him.

While he wouldn’t have wanted it to go this way, it could really define his future and it will be interesting to see how he copes with it.

He will of course go out and spend in January. There are no ifs or buts about it, it’s an absolute certainty.

You can’t lose two players that you have spent most of your money on and then your top goalscorer and then not go out and buy when the transfer window opens.

He might now be thinking he had kept hold of some of the players he let go over the summer.

The likes of Brett Pitman who scored 13 goals in the Championship last season before leaving for Ipswich, would have been at least someone to turn to in situations like this.

But hindsight’s a wonderful thing isn’t it. There is no way he would have envisaged this happening to the football club.

He’ll be out looking now, preparing for January and hoping they can get the players in to bring a second spell in the top flight.
