How Twitter reacted to two epic Rugby World Cup semi finals

After 46 matches over the course of five weeks, we are down to our final two teams in the Rugby World Cup. Old foes New Zealand and Australia will this week prepare to do battle at Twickenham on Saturday to get their hands on the Webb Ellis Trophy.
Rugby fans were delivered two semi-finals of outstanding quality as the pair overcame South Africa and Argentina respectively.
After all the adulation from a pair of fantastic battles had died down, we scoured the Twittersphere for all of the best reaction on social media.
The almighty battle between the All Blacks and the Springboks finished with Sonny Bill Williams praised for this act of sportsmanship with South Africa’s Jesse Kriel.

But back in the dressing room, it was all smiles as the victors met with Prime Minister of New Zealand, John Key. And it’s safe to say he probably felt a tad small next to Sam Whitelock.

Over 5,000 miles away in South Africa, footballer Jeremy Brockie, who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand, performed this slightly cheeky celebration when scoring for Supersport United in their clash with Golden Arrows in Pretoria.

For some though, there was still some bitter resentment that one of the Home Nations were no longer in the tournament. There may have been a hint of irony, but a certain decision in the quarter finals still looks to be raw for the Scots.

So it was then on to the second head-to-head as Ireland’s conquerors Argentina faced a mammoth task against two-time champions Australia.
A World Cup semi-final was always going to bring out the big names in the stands, and one well-known face supporting the underdogs looked to be enjoying himself.

He was though, left disappointed as a spirited performance from the Pumas was not enough to pull off a shock. The Wallabies ran out 29-15 winners to book their place in the decider in a pulsating fixture. Argentina manager Daniel Hourcade showed what it would have meant to reach the biggest stage of them all at the final whistle in a real outpouring of emotion.

As admirable as they were in defeat though, it is the Aussies and not the South Americans who will do battle with New Zealand to get their hands on that famous trophy.
And after victories in the Netball and Cricket World Cup finals over their neighbours in 2015, there was confidence in the Australian fanbase.

As 12/5 underdogs, they will need to be on their game to defeat the imperious All Blacks, but maybe, just maybe, they will call on this guy as a late addition to their team ahead of the big game next Saturday.
