Well, that’s it. For the rest of the time the Rugby World Cup is on these shores, bar one more group game, the host team will play no further part.

Stuart Lancaster’s England lost their do-or-die clash with old rivals Australia at Twickenham on Saturday night, becoming the first host nation to fail to reach the knockout stages in the competition.
