High-flying Arsenal line up Everton as their next victims

A famous 2-0 Champions League victory over Bayern Munich for Arsenal was the continuation of an excellent vein of form for Arsene Wenger’s men, one which should continue this weekend at home to Everton.

The Gunners have now won three on the spin, and aside from the hiccup at home to Olympiakos, have picked up five victories in their last six contests.

That run has included a north London derby win in the League Cup, comprehensive Premier League wins over Leicester, Watford and Manchester United, in addition to conquering the German champions this week.

Arsenal fans will now be understandably looking forward to the visit of Everton this Saturday evening, who are in a particularly nasty run of fixtures.

The Toffees held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby to start the month, before a poor showing saw them swept aside at home to Man United last weekend.

And now Roberto Martinez takes a team to London which hasn’t won at Arsenal for nearly 20 years.

The Merseysiders’ last victory came at Highbury in 1996, and then since then they’ve made 21 winless visits to the Gunners in all competitions, and have never won at the Emirates.

That sort of form somewhat undoes Everton’s good away record this term, where they remain unbeaten away from Goodison Park.

However they are yet to face a top six side on the road, and their woeful Arsenal record suggests they could be in for a difficult weekend.

For Arsenal though, this is as a good a time as any to face a team which in another part of the season could cause problems and they’re 2/5 for a win which would take them top of the table, with Manchester City not in action until Sunday.

Olivier Giroud proved the hero in the win over Bayern, and the Frenchman is 7/2 to open the scoring in Saturday’s evening kick-off in front of the television cameras, which we’ll will double if he nets the opener inside the first 25 minutes thanks to our Sharp Shooter promotion*.
