Five strikers Man United should go for instead of Harry Kane

Manchester United’s woes in front of goal this season are well documented, the record Premier League winners have failed to score in three of their last five in all competitions, and talk of a new recruit is circulating.

Harry Kane is rumoured to be the solution to these problems, but, at a speculated cost of £50million, the striker who has only scored four times this term, three of those against Bournemouth, may not be worth the investment.

The Red Devils spent nearly £100million this summer and adding Kane’s fee on top of that would see their net spend look ridiculous.

Therefore, a more frugal marksman may be more appropriate, and here are the options Louis van Gaal should be considering:

Anthony Martial

Looking to put out another heavy outlay when you’ve already spent £36million on a striker seems lavish, especially when you are utilising said play as a left winger.

Martial has scored three times since joining from AS Monaco, and the 19-year-old’s fantastic debut goal against Liverpool showed what he can produce when played through the middle.

Jamie Vardy

If Man United are looking to bring in an English goalscorer, then they should be looking at Vardy and not Kane.

The Leicester City striker leads the Premier League scoring charts with ten in ten, and would be a cheaper homegrown option than the Tottenham man.

Artiz Aduriz

The 34-year-old player may seem like an obscure option, but he’s scored as many goals as Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez in La Liga this season.

His experience will actually work out as a plus because it will allow the likes of Martial and James Wilson to develop while having a guaranteed goal getter able to pick up the slack.

Michy Batshuayi

The 22-year-old Belgian is currently the leading marksman in Ligue 1 after scoring eight goals for Marseille.

This comes off the back of the 22 times he found the net in the last campaign, and his club’s struggling league form may make it easier to prise him away.

Jese

The Real Madrid forward can play on either wing or through the middle, but has been limited to six appearances at the Bernabeu this season, two of those coming off the bench.

Los Merengues have a history of letting young talented strikers go to waste with other teams swooping in and profiting, just ask Alvaro Morata’s Juventus move.
