Everton’s Emirates woe to continue at in-form Arsenal
Following their memorable exploits in the Champions League in midweek, Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates in understandably buoyant mood.
The Gunners have now won three in succession and five of their last six games after their 2-0 win over German giants Bayern Munich on Tuesday, and can point to an excellent home record with Everton as the Toffees make their way to the capital.
Roberto Martinez’s side haven’t beaten Arsenal away from Goodison Park since 1996, going 20 years and 21 visits in all competitions without a win since then.
They’ve never won at the Emirates and Arsene Wenger has the extra motivation of knowing that a win would move his side top of the table with leaders Manchester City not in action until Sunday.
The Merseysiders are unbeaten on the road in the Premier League this season, but they’re yet to travel to a team in the top six and their history at Arsenal suggests it could be a difficult Saturday night for the Blues.
As such, the 2/5 on Arsenal to win may seem understandably short, but with the London side’s last four wins all coming by at least two-goal margins, it may well be better to back Wenger’s men on the -1 handicap at evens.
But this Arsenal side are helping themselves to goals as of late, and none more so than Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean didn’t net against Bayern, but has scored 10 goals for club and country in his last seven appearances, and Ladbrokes are boosting Sanchez to score and Arsenal to win from 6/5 to 2/1.
Sanchez is 7/2 to net the opener on Saturday night in front of the Sky Sports cameras and if he does so within the opening 25 minutes, Ladbrokes’ Sharp Shooter offer will see you paid out double odds of 7/1 on the former Barcelona man.*
