Dundee United contract rebel will be on Old Firm radar

John Souttar will be a name familiar with fans of Football Manager, with the 19-year-old regularly becoming one of the top players in Scotland and signing for the likes of Manchester United.
He’ll be even more familiar to followers of Scottish football, with the youngster already establishing himself as a starter at Dundee United.
His debut came at the age of 16 years and 99 days, making him the youngest player ever to represent United, and he has gone on to play 58 times for the side, scoring twice.
The Terrors accepted a £600,000 bid for Souttar from Sunderland in 2013, but the youngster turned down the chance of a move and remained loyal to his club.
However, his Dundee United career looks to be coming to a close, with the player refusing to sign a contract extension, and he could walk out for free at the end of the season.
Stephen Thompson, the Terrors chairman, says he tried everything to keep the player at the club, offering to make him the joint highest earner, but it’s all fallen on deaf ears.
Souttar is the latest in the prolific Tannadice production line, and could be the next one out the door.
Andy Robertson, Ryan Gauld, Stuart Armstrong, Nadir Cifti and Gary Mackay-Steven have all made their name at the club before heading off.
To make matters worse, Armstrong, Mackay-Steven and Cifti all left for Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic, and put the brakes on any chance of the Terrors closing the gap on the Bhoys.
They’re now bottom of the league, and will be desperate to keep their best players for as long as possible.
Celtic and Rangers are already rumoured to be monitoring his situation, but it shouldn’t only be those in Scotland looking at him as he could be a strong addition to any squad.
