David Moyes is the man Aston Villa fans want at the helm

Published:

Move over Remi Garde, there’s only one name Aston Villa fans want to take over and help rescue their crisis-hit club from a Premier League relegation scrap.

That man is former Everton and Manchester United boss, David Moyes.

Granted, there’s a fairly big obstacle to overcome before the 52-year-old could assume charge at Villa Park, namely the fact that he’s currently in charge of Real Sociedad.

But with Moyes’ Spanish sojourn proving to be a mixed bag he could well be tempted by a return to England.

The 45 per cent of voters who plumped for the Scot will certainly hope so.

That left ex-Lyon supremo, and bookies favourite, Garde toiling in second place while the ‘someone else’ option was the third most popular.

Ouch. You can perhaps have a little sympathy with at least one of the remaining named candidates on our shortlist.

Recently axed from the Liverpool hot-seat, Brendan Rodgers might well be the type of manager who’d relish the chance to work with Villa’s crop of youngsters.

Alas, it doesn’t look like it’s meant to be with Moyes the fans’ choice to replace Tim Sherwood.
