Celtic keen to add Man Utd star to their misleading attack

Despite being the Ladbrokes Premiership’s highest scorers and boasting the division’s joint-leading goal getter, Celtic remain utterly reliant on the form of one man in attack.
Leigh Griffiths has notched eight times in 10 league appearances for the Hoops this season, a tally that makes up 31 percent of the club’s total league production in front of goal.
Of the other strikers at the club, Nadir Cifti is yet to make a league start but has one goal to his name off the bench, while Anthony Stokes has made just a solitary appearance.
Those numbers hammer home just how vital Griffiths is to Celtic’s title ambitions and an injury to the former Wolves man would be a serious dilemma for Ronny Deila.
The Norwegian tactician is looking to make contingency strides in that department however, with a loan move for Man United youngster James Wilson cropping up in the morning’s gossip pages.
Wilson has been restricted to just eight minutes of first-team football at Old Trafford this season and Louis van Gaal is open to allowing him to make a temporary switch elsewhere over the winter to allow him to develop.
That would, however, weaken the Red Devils’ own striking stocks, but with Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini and Memphis Depay all able to deputise for Anthony Martial, the Dutchman may decide he has enough cover to let Wilson leave.
Tyler Blackett has already made the journey from Manchester to Glasgow on loan this season and adding Wilson to the squad would certainly lighten the load Griffiths is currently expected to carry.
With the Bhoys fighting on four fronts this term, the six-cap international cannot be expected to maintain his goalscoring form or his current appearance rate for the entire campaign.
Landing Wilson would give Griffiths the help he’ll no doubt require, while also allowing the 19-year-old Englishman to develop his game through regular first-team football.
Celtic, currently second in the Ladbrokes Premiership, remain heavy favourites with the sponsors to win the title, at 1/25. Their next outing comes against Motherwell, where they are rated at 2/1 to win with a two-goal handicap.
