Captain Sergio Aguero leads Mr Brightside to big points

Published:

Fantasy Footballers were split into two camps this weekend; those who had Sergio Aguero as captain growing evermore ecstatic as goal after goal went in against Newcastle, and those who didn’t despairing as Aguero helped himself to five.

Tarek Daioub was one such player to have Manchester City’s wonder striker as captain, and a big haul of 95 points ensured his Tareksheva side remain top of the Ladbrokes Life League with an eleven point gap to their nearest challenges.

Aguero contributed 50 points to anyone who had him as skipper, and the Argentine brought over half of Tareksheva’s points this weekend.

Throw in 15 points from vice-captain Kevin de Bruyne, and goals from Dimitri Payet and Andre Ayew in midfield, and Daioub’s place at the top was assured.

But how did it go for the Ladbrokes Life gang?

Well what a weekend it was for Mr Brightside who claimed a huge haul of 110 points. And of course 50 of those came from Aguero.

Backing him up though were both Leicester City scorers, Jamie Vardy and Jeffrey Schlupp, plus David Silva, Mesut Ozil and Chelsea’s Willian also piling in with solid points.

Brightside now sits just nine points behind the Gut Truster in the race to be king of the Ladbrokes Life crew after adding nearly a third of his season points in just one weekend.

The Gut Truster picked up a steady 61 points, which was particularly impressive when missing Aguero. Jamie Vardy as captain chipped in once again while Yannick Bolasie reached double figures too.

While the Professor smartly picked his way to 81 points (thanks to Sergio) spare a thought for the Believer and Generous John.

The Believer will be reaching out to new depths of faith this week after a miserable weekend produced just 35 points, to fall over 100 behind the Gut Truster.

Generous John won’t be feeling too charitable either after a woeful 23 points saw him concede the lead in this quintet’s battle to the Gut Truster, with Brightside just a point behind.

With the Believer all but out of it, just 15 points separate the other four Ladbrokes Life members with Aguero having a real impact on this weekend’s events somehow bringing the quartet nicely together as we take a break for the latest batch of international fixtures.
