Brazilian duo pave the way for Manchester United moves
Manchester United could turn on the samba style next season if the latest transfer rumours are to be believed.
The Red Devils have been boosted in their pursuit of not one but two Brazil internationals, with bids expected to be made for Neymar and Felipe Anderson next summer.
United chased Barcelona ace Neymar for most of last summer, to no avail, but reports suggest the former Santos star is tired of living his life in Lionel Messi’s shadow and wants out of the Nou Camp.
Despite scoring a stunning 62 goals in 101 appearances for the Catalan club, Neymar still very much plays second fiddle to his Argentine team mate and the player’s representatives are said to be looking for a club where the 23-year-old would be the focal point of the attack – with United once again thought to be at the head of the queue.
The Brazil ace is currently contracted to Barca until June 2018, but should the player decide he wants to leave Louis van Gaal is likely to be given the funds to make the deal happen.
Neymar is not the only Brazilian on LVG’s radar, however, with Lazio ace Felipe Anderson also a rumoured target for the Red Devils boss.
United have been keeping tabs on the winger in recent months and are expected to make their move this summer after it emerged the Rome-based club have come to a verbal agreement with the player that he can leave if one of Europe’s elite clubs comes calling.
Like Neymar, the 22-year-old started his career with Santos in his homeland. Lazio snapped the midfielder up for just €7.8m in 2013 but after a string of stunning displays and 17 goals in 72 appearances the Italians face a struggle to hold on to their man.
United meanwhile, will take on Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup later today knowing that with Arsenal and Chelsea already out of the competition the tournament now represents a great chance for Van Gaal to pick up his first silverware as United boss.
