Bournemouth game gives Klopp the chance for Reds success

It’s three games in and three draws for Jurgen Klopp as he has made a tentative start to his Anfield career.

Much fanfare and excitement followed the appointment of the German manager, but that good feeling has failed to translate into a win.

A first victory would be a confidence boost for the struggling Reds, and the League Cup fourth round tie with Bournemouth gives a chance for just that.

Klopp’s side are 2/5 favourites for the match, with the struggling Cherries looking particularly weak at the moment.

Eddie Howe will have to deal with being unable to pick six first-team players for the game, with some crucial players out with lengthy layoffs.

Callum Wilson, Max Gradel, Tyrone Mings, Tommy Elphick, Lee Tomlin and Harry Arter would all figure centrally in Bournemouth’s plan were it not for their unavailability.

The growing population of the physio room has led to a downturn in form, with the Cherries losing three and drawing one of their last four.

They’ve conceded 13 goals in that time, only scoring four, and Klopp must view this vulnerable team as the catalyst for an improved Liverpool.

Last season, the two clubs met in the fifth round of the tournament, with the Reds winning 3-1 in Bournemouth, before beginning a strong run.

Brendan Rodgers led the side to one loss in 21 domestic matches, that defeat coming after extra time against Chelsea, and winning 14.

A similar spell this time around would justify the euphoria over the Klopp appointment, and would surely see Liverpool head towards the European places.

History repeating itself and Liverpool getting a 3-1 victory is priced at 10/1, with the Reds going on to finish in the top six coming in at 4/9.
