Wales are better than England and not just according to FIFA

Published:

This may not come as a surprise to ardent Welsh football fans – or FIFA – but Chris Coleman’s side have been officially labelled better than England, according to Ladbrokes News readers.

The outcome was as tight as the latest world rankings with 51 per cent of voters throwing their weight behind Wales while 49 per cent have been left rueing the result.

Wales currently occupy ninth place in FIFA’s list while the Three Lions are 10th following a run of form that’s seen Gareth Bale and co. lose just one of their last 11 international matches.

A 1-0 victory over the second-best team in the world, Belgium, will have also given the Dragons a boost with that man Bale proving the match winner back in June.

However, England fans are perhaps right to feel a little disappointed by the outcome of our poll.

While their counterparts have been on a decent run the fact remains that on paper at least, Roy Hodgson boasts a superior line-up.

Ten of the current Wales squad play outside of the top-flight while only one member of Hodgson’s side fits in to that bracket.
