VIDEO: Tyson Fury’s Batman stunt and other pre-fight antics
Tyson Fury has the biggest fight of his career on October 24, when he takes on Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf for the WBA, IBF, WBO and The Ring heavyweight world championships.
He’s certainly making the most of the experience, unleashing his sharp tongue with every chance he gets and pulling a few stunts in press conferences.
His latest, in case you haven’t seen it, is brilliantly bizarre and can be seen in the below video, which kicks off Ladbrokes News’ collection of the best pre-fight drama to have occurred in both boxing and the UFC.
Tyson Fury as Batman
This video needs to be watched at least five times to truly appreciate it’s many facets: Klitschko’s nonplussed reaction, Adam Smith’s uncertainty on how to greet the “Caped Crusader”, Eddie Hearn’s judgemental face. It really is brilliant.
UFC’s Sean O’Connell
Traditional tough-guy stare downs aren’t in O’Connell’s repertoire, as he prefers to find various ways to lighten the mood when faced with his opponents.
Riddick Bowe lands an early one-two on Larry Donald
Donald must have said something to Bowe ahead of their 1994 showdown, because the former two-time heavyweight champion landed two heavy blows on his jaw within the blink of an eye. The sound the shots make are startling.
Chisora slaps Vitali Klitschko
Wladimir’s brother has also had experience of British heavyweights looking to hog the pre-fight limelight. Safe to say, this was one of the few blows Chisora landed on the Ukrainian both in and out of the ring.
When times were different
Boxers brawling outside the ring isn’t a new phenomenon of course. Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier came to blows on the Howard Cosell show before their second bout, although the straight-laced commentary Cosell provides wouldn’t be found these days.
