VIDEO: Everton’s taunt of Chelsea tops 5 best Premier League songs
Some are witty, most are rude, but we all love a good football chant. Whether it’s in praise of a fan favourite or a little more derisory about an opponent, songs are part of the game’s fabric and here at Ladbrokes News we are celebrating them.
Don’t fear Liverpool fans, that pleasant little ditty about Steven Gerrard didn’t make it in – it’s too last season.
Here are five that did though…..enjoy!
Odion Ighalo – Watford fans
Having fired Watford to automatic promotion last season alongside strike partner Troy Deeney, Nigerian ace Ighalo was already a Vicarage Road favourite before he started netting in the Premier League. The Hornets pay this tribute to the striker which Queen fans might recognise
George Best – Manchester United fans
The great man may no longer be with us, but George Best will clearly always have a place in the hearts of Manchester United fans.
Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool fans
From a bone fide legend, to one in the making. Liverpool’s Brazilian maestro is fast becoming the darling of the Kop and after his opening-day wonder strike at Stoke, Reds fans cracked open their Coutinho song. Simple, but effective.
Rudy Gestede – Aston Villa fans
Football fans love nothing more than the birth of a new hero to get behind. In the wake of his opening-day striker to sink Bournemouth, this delirious bunch of Aston Villa supporters paid tribute to new signing Gestede.
John Stones – Everton fans
By far the best of the lot, but what would you expect from those witty scousers up at Goodison Park? Chelsea’s failed bid to land Stones this summer wasn’t just good for football, it was great because it led to this song….
Oh, go on then, we’ll give you a bonus number.
This is no forgettable B-side though.
Here are the Arsenal fans saluting French centre-back Laurent Koscielny with their own take on Chaka Khan club classic, ‘Ain’t Nobody’, during their recent 5-2 mauling of Leicester.
