The signing that proves Man Utd’s business isn’t finished

Manchester United have dominated the 2015 summer transfer Deadline Day, what with their bungling of the David De Gea to Real Madrid stealing most of the limelight before their over-the-odds capture of Monaco youngster Anthony Martial took over.

However, it seems the Old Trafford outfit are not finished in the final few minutes of the transfer window though, as a signing in Wales could well prompt a further arrival at the Theatre of Dreams.

Newport County’s 17-year-old defender Regan Poole was linked to Louis van Gaal’s side earlier on Deadline Day and it seems the League Two club are preparing for his departure by announcing the capture of 21-year-old Matt Partridge.

The arrival at Rodney Parade could yet see Poole climb the footballing pyramid at a rate of knots. United bid £100,000 for the centre-back, which would have risen to £400,000 depending on performances.

With Newport now covered for Poole’s departure, the Terry Butcher-managed outfit could well be open to accepting an improved offer from the Red Devils, should it arrive.
