Poll: How many English clubs will reach Champions League knockouts?
Premier League champions Chelsea may be struggling on the domestic front but the Blues were the only English side to pick up a win in the Champions League this week.
Jose Mourinho’s men put their poor league form to one side to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Elsewhere, Manchester City let a one-goal lead slip to lose 2-1 at home to Juventus and neighbours Manchester United, perhaps thrown by Luke Shaw’s injury, also blew a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 at PSV Eindhoven.
Perhaps the biggest failure though, was Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat away to Dinamo Zagreb. Olivier Giroud saw red and Theo Walcott hit a late consolation as the Gunners handed the Croatians their first group stage win in 15 attempts, dating back to 1999.
So with most of the English clubs flopping on the continent this week, were asking how many of them will reach the knockout stages of this year’s competition.
