Man United take shock Deadline Day poll victory

Published:

Is it fair to say that 50 per cent of today’s voters occupy a parallel universe? Because somewhat inexplicably, that’s how many of you deemed Manchester United to have done the best business on Transfer Deadline Day.

Fair enough. If you think that the £36m (and rising) capture of a relatively unknown youngster represents a cracking deal then you’re perfectly entitled to that opinion.

Or maybe it was the signing of Newport County star Regan Poole that sealed it?

Still, whatever your view, the result stands and it’s the Old Trafford club who’ve taken the spoils.

Not too far behind were the busiest Premier League club on the day, West Ham.

Boss Slaven Bilic made some canny additions to his squad before the window slammed shut with Alex Song, Victor Moses, Nikica Jelavic and Michail Antonio bolstering the ranks.

The Hammers scooped 40 per cent of the vote with the top two finishing way ahead of their nearest rivals.

Watford recorded just eight per cent while fellow stragglers Aston Villa and Norwich fared even worse.

In fact, the Canaries didn’t pick up a single vote despite bringing in both Matt Jarvis and Dynamo Kiev’s Dieumerci Mbokani on loan.

We don’t know a whole lot about the latter either.
