Man United aren’t about to give up top spot easily this season

Manchester United are slowly but surely clicking into gear and the vast majority of Ladbrokes News voters think that’s ominous for the rest of their Premier League rivals.

A significant 74 per cent of you think that Louis van Gaal’s men are genuine title contenders this season following a winning run that’s seen them go top of the table.

United have now won their last three top-flight games after hammering Sunderland 3-0 at Old Trafford last weekend and lost just once in seven outings.

And while this incarnation of the Red Devils isn’t quite comparable to one of the vintage teams Sir Alex Ferguson assembled, you can’t deny the quality that exists within the squad.

Sure, a lot (a real lot) of money has been spent but Van Gaal now possesses a unit which combines youth, experience and a fair deal of entertainment value.

Meanwhile, there’s the other side of the coin to consider too and how that may play into the hands of the 13-time champions, namely their fellow challenger’s perilous form.

Champions Chelsea look a shadow of the side that cantered to the title by eight points last term while Manchester City are, well, being classic Manchester City and veering from one extreme to the other in terms of results.

And while no Premier League crown is won in September, things are looking pretty good if you’re a United fan right now.
