LVG Reject XI: Was Dutchman right to let these players go?

While the arrival of Anthony Martial dominated the headlines as far as Manchester United were concerned on Deadline Day the Frenchman is just one of a number of new arrivals at Old Trafford this summer.
The £36m teenager joins Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay and Sergio Romero in Louis van Gaal’s new-look United squad but there will be plenty of people sad to see the back of some of the players the Dutchman let go to make way.
The ruthless Red Devils gaffer allowed a total of 19 players to walk through the Old Trafford exit door this summer, either on loan or on a permanent basis, and we’ve put the best XI into the below team.
With Danish international Anders Lindegaard (West Brom – Free) in goal, the experienced Jonny Evans (West Brom – £6m) marshalling Rafael Da Silva (Lyon – £2.5m) and the highly-rated Tyler Blackett (Celtic – Loan) in defence the LVG Reject XI looks like it could hold its head above water in the Premier League.
It is in midfield and attack where this side would really shine though.
Thirteen-cap England man Tom Cleverley (Everton – Free) sits deep providing ammunition for a midfield trio of Nani (Fenerbahce – £4.3m), Angel Di Maria (PSG – £44m) and Adnan Januzaj (Dortmund – Loan).
That creative midfield could feed through to three strikers who are deadly on their day.
First up is Javier Hernandez (Bayer Leverkusen – £7.3m), next is Radamel Falcao (Permanent transfer declined), who has more goals than Wayne Rooney so far this season, and completing the front line is two-time Golden Boot winner Robin van Persie (Fenerbahce £3.8m)
United have also bid farewell to Ben Amos ( Bolton – Free), Angelo Henriquez (Dynamo Zagreb – £1.2m), Saidy Janko (Celtic – Undisclosed), Tom Thorpe (Rotherham – Free), Reece James (Wigan – Undisclosed), while Kieran O’Hara, Ben Pearson, Joe Rothwell and Will Keane will spend the season on loan elsewhere.
