Ladbrokes’ man continues to believe as Fantasy Football hots up

Published:

Six weeks in and the Ladbrokes Fantasy Premier League is beginning to take shape, with many of our early principles solidifying their positions at the upper echelons of the table.

However, after a relatively low scoring week, we have a new leader in the chase for that £100 free bet.

A Bashir’s Silva Surfers put in a fantastic shift to rack up 67 points, the majority coming from two-goal Saint Graziano Pelle, Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson, and an in-form captain in the shape of Riyad Mahrez.

Throw in two clean sheets and his six point lead at the head of proceedings was assured.

As for our gang though, there wasn’t an awful lot to shout about.

In fact, just one of our quintet managed to score more than the 41 point average haul picked up across the game, as The Believer continued to live up to his name.

He, like The Professor and Mr Brightside, still languishes in the bottom 600 of the league, but with a strong rearguard action chipping in the points it’s only a matter of time before he climbs up the table.

Five clean sheets from his team added to goals from the aforementioned Wilson, Eden Hazard and Daryl Janmaat.

Bringing in a total of 51 points, The Believer was 15 points clear of both Generous John and The Professor, his closest challengers this week.

The former was halted by the decision to name Christian Benteke as captain, when the Liverpool man failed to return to the pitch in the second half, adding just two points.

The latter meanwhile had just a couple of assists and a clean sheet from Toby Alderweireld to shout about as he continued to struggle.

Mr Brightside still props up the table amongst his friends, failing to improve on his position in 642nd with just a goal and an assist to write home about.

He did though, outscore the Gut Truster who continued to fall down the table.

David Silva’s late withdrawal meant his captain’s armband shifted to Bafetimbi Gomis, who failed to cope with the responsibility adding just four points.

Santi Carzola’s red card didn’t help, and with Ashley Williams his only player to score four points or more, it will be a week to forget for our man.

There’s still a long time to go but it appears a couple of the Ladbrokes Life gang are set for a relegation battle.
