Jermain Defoe to come back and haunt old boys West Ham?

It’s all the rage these days not to celebrate against your old club should you score, but that’s not something Jermain Defoe tends to abide by.
The Sunderland striker sees his boyhood club West Ham make the trip to the Stadium of Light this weekend, and Defoe will be hoping to build on a solid record against the London club.
He has netted six times against his old team since leaving Upton Park in 2004, including a brace for Tottenham in a 3-1 win 2012.
One of those strikes was a particularly sublime solo run and finish, with the forward subsequently happy to celebrate.
The Londoner has only scored more goals against Blackburn, Charlton and Wigan. There is no current Premier League side Defoe has scored more goals against than the Hammers.
West Ham may have put him on the map, but it’s clear that Defoe is the sort of player who won’t hold back against his former team.
His current employers are enduring a tough time of things in the Premier League this term, though their record at home is somewhat better than their endeavours on the road.
After a 3-1 loss to Norwich, the Black Cats have made a reasonable fist of things at home to Swansea and Spurs, claiming a 1-1 draw and a narrow 1-0 loss respectively.
Defoe netted in that draw with the Welsh side, and though he isn’t guaranteed to start under Dick Advocaat, the former England international is 15/8 to net anytime and bag a seventh goal against the claret and blue side.
Should he start come 3pm Saturday, then the 32-year-old can be backed at 11/2 to claim the opener this weekend.
