How long can Raith’s home clean sheet streak go on?

Published:

After Dumbarton became the fourth Ladbrokes Championship outfit to leave Raith Rovers without scoring a goal, Grant Murray’s men stood alone across all of English and Scottish league football.

The Rovers are now the only team remaining across the two pyramids yet to concede a league goal at home, a remarkable achievement that has helped the club punch above their weight in the second tier thus far this term.

Only sat in third because of Falkirk’s slightly better goal difference, Raith have won all four of their outings at Stark’s Park, scoring eight goals in that time.

Although they aren’t the only unbeaten home side in the division – Rangers’ perfect record ensures that spotlight is shared – their better defensive record than the Ibrox giants will have future visitors extremely wary.

Morton are the next guests in Kirkcaldy and, having gone winless in their last three Championship games anywhere, certainly can’t claim confidence in bursting Raith’s bubble.

League sponsors Ladbrokes make Raith an even-money chance to get a fifth consecutive home win (seventh in all competitions), while also offering 12/5 that they win to nil.

Should they successfully negotiate that hurdle – only Hibernian have shut travelling Morton out so far – then their quest to keep the dream alive becomes tougher.

Hibernian and Falkirk, the two teams straddling Raith in the Championship standings, are the next two visitors to Stark’s Park.

Hibs only have two road goals to their name this season, so may be easily snuffable despite their reputation as one of the league’s heavy hitters. However, Falkirk are unbeaten on their travels and have scored seven goals, second only to Rangers.
