Frustrated Spurs star surely on the cusp of a scoring spree

Harry Kane will be as exasperated as any Tottenham fan not to have rippled a net for his club yet this season, but evidence to support an imminent goal rush is mounting.

The scoring sensation of last season couldn’t prevent Arsenal leaving town with the bragging rights in the Capital One Cup.

However, the Walthamstow Wonder came within an offside flag and half-a-ball’s width from breaking his 2015/16 Spurs duck against their fiercest rivals.

The unerring accuracy he displayed so often for the Lilywhites last term is starting to return on the evidence of his ruled out goal, which was cooly swept home in an instant before the linesman pulled the plug on any celebrations.

Then he had England teammate Kieran Gibbs to blame for showing cute positional awareness to header another effort off the line from just inside the far post.

Kane’s all-round play was as accomplished as it’s ever looked during the derby clash, as he hounded the Arsenal backline with his direct running and movement all evening long.

The signs were also there on England duty that the centre-forward instincts which enabled Kane to grab 31 goals for Tottenham in all competitions last term, have not in any way deserted him, rather the luck has.

Players of this quality simply won’t be kept off the scoresheet for too many long droughts, with four barren games coming either side of the Euro qualifiers.

In fact, last season four games was the longest stretch that Spurs’ number 10 didn’t hit the target, so on this trend Manchester City will be particularly vulnerable to a Kane goal.

The 2014/15 Young Player of the Year is 21/10 to score anytime in the televised Saturday lunchtime encounter.

Once he opened the floodgates in white last season, he went onto bag 11 in his next 16 games.

As an each-way top scorer bet, the Spurs man is still a sizzling pick at 33/1.
