Consistent Polarisation to continue progression at Doncaster

Day three of the Ladbrokes St Leger meeting provides some quality action with no fewer than three Group races on offer including the Doncaster Cup.
The feature should be a cracker, but for today’s Lucky 15 we are looking elsewhere.
That’s not the only difference, as we are changing tack from previous days, opting to pick a quartet to support on the nose rather than our more tried and tested each-way multiple.
Here’s who gets the nod for us.
With two races yielding two wins it’s hard to know just how good Ger Lyons’ filly could be, but the fact that she was pitched in at Group 3 level and backed into favouritism on her second start says a lot.
Her out-and-out speed put the race to bed that day at the Curragh to see off the useful (and reopposing) Independence Day in taking fashion.
She once again gets 3lb from the boys and that could make the different in a race that will take no prisoners over the flying five furlongs.
Favourite Gutaifan has rock solid form in the book but one suggests he might be better at further and is taken on with this unexposed type.
Consistency has been the name of the game for Mark Johnston’s gelding this year, placing in nine of his 13 outings in 2015.
More tellingly, he has also been victorious on both outings over this 1m6f trip, so could yet have more to give at this distance.
One of those victories was in the Melrose Stakes at York, which he followed up with victory at Haydock and a solid placed run at Ascot.
He’s climbed the handicap, going up 21lbs since the start of the campaign, but it appears he could still be ahead of the handicapper.
The winning line has come too soon for Richard Hannon’s filly in much of her career to date, getting going too late in all but one win at Ascot in which she was allowed to dominate from the front.
She was staying on well in the final stages in both the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes and the Prix de Calvados at Longchamp, both over 7f, so one would expect the step up a furlong to bring out more.
There have been three subsequent winners come out of her Ascot win, including the reopposing Light Up Our World, so she looks to have something about her and could be one to take the jolly on with.
Roger Varian’s colt seems to have found her mojo again at four, after two disappointing runs at the back-end of her three-year-old campaign.
Her close second in the Stewards’ Cup was a cracker in a competitive race, form that now looks rock solid. Magical Memory was only ¾l ahead of Toofi that day at Goodwood and has since gone on to place in the Group 1 Sprint Cup, paying her victim the ultimate compliment.
A solid sixth behind the 1,000 Guineas fifth Fadhayyil in a Listed race will have been an ideal prep and she could still have more room for manoeuvre off this mark back down in handicap company.
