Betting implies Spurs’ lingering move for striker will bear fruit

Saido Berahino’s proposed move to Tottenham is increasingly likely to happen in the final hours of the summer transfer window according to bookmakers Ladbrokes, who’ve shrunk the odds on the outcome.

According to all-known reports, Berahino is desperate to get his move to White Hart Lane pushed through before time is called on Deadline Day and 1/2 with Ladbrokes now says that the 22-year-old gets his wish.

Until now, the reason for Spurs’ failing to land their man appears to be purely mathematical, with two bids sent the Baggies way being flatly rejected.

Evens so, the intense courtship has led manager Tony Pulis to leave the distracted frontman out of his last three matchday squads, increasing speculation the deal will be brokered.

The Midlands outfit are reported to be holding out for a sum of £25m for the striker given his return of 20 goals in all competitions last season and prolific record at all levels for England’s junior ranks.

With Berahino chomping at the bit to secure his move south, it would seem the ball is very much in Tottenham’s court if the club wish to improve the quality of options in attack alongside main striker Harry Kane.

Although manager Mauricio Pochettino recently acquired highly-rated Korean attacker Son Heung-Min from Bayer Leverkusen, the former Southampton gaffer is still very much intent on replacing summer departure Roberto Soldado.

The Daily Mail are one newspaper who believe that Spurs are preparing a renewed offer close to West Brom’s valuation which will be submitted in time to make a deal plausible.

Fans of the north London club will be hoping the powers that be can repeat the feat of securing summer Deadline Day signings over recent years such as Clint Dempsey, Hugo Lloris and Rafael Van de Vaart.
