Arsenal to get Champions League campaign up and running

Having kick-started their Premier League season with a clinical 5-2 win at Leicester on Saturday, Arsenal will be hoping to do the same in Europe against Olympiakos.

The Gunners got off to a poor start to life in Group F. Olivier Giroud was sent off while the London side sank to a 2-1 loss at Dinamo Zagreb.

Their upcoming clash at home to Olympiakos however is the perfect opportunity for Arsene Wenger’s men to get their first points in the group, and they’re 2/5 favourites to win the match with Ladbrokes.

Having seen Alexis Sanchez get off to a slow start this season, Wenger will have been delighted to watch the Chilean net a hat-trick at Leicester on Saturday.

Similarly impressive was Theo Walcott, who bagged Arsenal’s first in their 5-2 comeback win over the Foxes.

The result doubled Arsenal’s goal tally for their Premier League campaign, and both Walcott and Sanchez could be in another productive shift against the Greek side.

Walcott is 10/3 to score first at the Emirates, with Sanchez similarly priced by Ladbrokes at 7/2 to net the opener against a team with abysmal history in England.

The Greek club have lost all of their previous 12 visits to England, and have been defeated in each of their last five Champions League away games.

Marco Silva’s side provided David Moyes with some brief respite as Man United boss in their most recent trip to English shores, as a Robin van Persie hat-trick saw United overturn a second round 2-0 first leg Champions League loss in Greece to win 3-0 two seasons ago.

The 42-time Greek champions are 6/1 to win at the Emirates, with the draw at 15/4.

Despite their woeful record away from home, the visitors will hope to punish Arsenal’s somewhat leaky defence.

Seven goals have been scored past the Arsenal back-line in the last four games, with Jamie Vardy helping himself to a brace on Saturday.

Ahead of the match, Ladbrokes are enhancing Arsenal to win and both teams to score from 15/8 to 5/2.

Ladbrokes’ Sharp Shooter offer will be in action once again with English teams in Europe this week, so should Walcott, Sanchez or anyone else net in the first 25 minutes, we’ll be doubling their first goalscorer odds.
