Ahmed Elmohamady in, Riyad Mahrez out at Leicester?

Published:

According to local media, they’re not expecting a flurry of activity at Leicester City on Transfer Deadline Day but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from turning.

The Leicester Mercury are reporting that a £5m deal for Hull City’s Ahmed Elmohamady may be revived with Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri allegedly in the market for wide players.

The 27-year-old Egyptian wing-back only has a year left on his contract at the KC Stadium and Hull may be tempted to offload him should the right money come their way.

However, while Elmohamady would be a welcome addition, his purchase would not be sufficient enough to fill the void left should Algerian star Riyad Mahrez move to north London.

Reports on Sunday suggested that Arsenal were keeping tabs on the flying winger following his superb start to the season.

That prompted Ranieri to state that ‘no price’ is big enough to convince him to sell his man-of-the-moment.

Meanwhile, Leicester have also been linked with Birmingham City’s in-demand teenager Demarai Gray although the player is said to be wary about the prospect of becoming a Premier League benchwarmer.

Nottingham Forest winger Michail Antonio is another option on the table but competition for his signature is fierce with West Ham one of the other top-flight clubs believed to be interested in the 25-year-old.
