Could West Ham offer Swansea’s Michu a viable way out?

After moves from Rayo Vallecano and Grenada to bring Swansea striker Michu’s Premier League spell to an end fell through, the future of the hitman looks up in the air.
But could the 29-year-old be just the tonic for another top-flight club in England?
Garry Monk this week told the South Wales Evening Post how he was “surprised nothing has happened yet” in regards to a move.
“The chairman is talking to his representatives and trying come up with a solution that suits both parties. It’ll be great if it can happen sooner rather than later for Michu and for the club”, he went on to say.
While interest for the player looks to be stemming from abroad, could he be just the player West Ham are looking for to bolster their attacking ranks?
The Hammers are currently in the market for another attacking player, with Enner Valencia set for a spell on the sidelines, and Andy Carroll’s long-term fitness unclear, and have met with set-backs in their previous approaches.
Charlie Austin has been linked with a move to Upton Park, but with a large amount of competition, whether Davids Gold and Sullivan will want to engage in a bidding war is questionable.
Another frontman Slaven Bilic has been linked to is Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez. A transfer of the Mexican looked likely until recently, but with Sky Sports reporting that the Red Devils are intending to keep him, any move looks off.
Instead, the Irons could do far worse than to turn their attention to a slightly forgotten man.
In his maiden season in England, Michu netted 22 times in all competitions, and saw his stock rise so much that he was at times valued at around £20m.
Since then, an ankle injury and a failed loan move to Napoli, in which he made just seven appearances, have seen him fall out of favour.
With the lack of goals in recent seasons, and the fact that the former Celta Vigo man is approaching the wrong side of 30, a cut-price deal could be available for his signature.
He would undoubtedly come with a risk, after his injury troubles, but with proven Premier League quality, and little resistance from his current club, the Hammers could sneak under the radar to bag some striking reinforcements.
