The Weekly Acca: Black Cats won’t cure their Aston Villa hoodoo

Published:

A paltry one win out of five last week (thanks Swindon) is best ignored. But we’re on to a winner here and Aston Villa are set to lead the charge against Sunderland.

There may be a few of you who won’t be able to put so much as a cigarette paper between two fairly drab teams.

But that’s where you’re wrong.

Get on this 13/1 acca and don’t forget that if one team lets you down you’ll get your money back as a free bet!*

Aston Villa to beat Sunderland

Granted, these are not two of the most exciting teams in the Premier League but given Villa’s recent record against the Black Cats they should at least secure all three points even if it’s not the most entertaining contest.

The Midlands outfit are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with Sunderland and can point to 4-0 and 6-1 victories during that sequence.

Hull to beat Preston

Steve Bruce’s Tigers have made a solid start to life in the Championship this term and that looks set to continue at home to Preston

Three wins from three in all competitions at the KC Stadium is a solid foundation to build from with just one goal conceded in that period.

The visiting Lilywhites have adapted well to life in the second tier but this will be a difficult test to overcome.

Wigan v Crewe

With all due respect to the visiting team, if ever Wigan needed a pick-me-up at the DW Stadium then this is a fixture where they simply have to grab all three points.

Crewe have been clinging to their League One lives for a while now and their start to this campaign hasn’t been too clever either.

In fact, they’ve only picked up nine points in their last 11 league outings and have to be opposed.

The Latics were 3-0 winners at home to Scunthorpe two weeks ago and can carry on in a similar vein.

Plymouth to beat Newport

Our basement division pick is hardly rocket science when you take into account these two teams’ respective form.

Plymouth are flying high while Newport have only won once in their last 10 League Two outings.

Terry Butcher’s side have conceded nine times in four games so far in 2015-16 while scoring just four times in reply and a long hard season is in store for the south Wales club.

Celta Vigo to beat Rayo Vallecano

Watch this bet come in on your desktop, mobile or tablet thanks to Ladbrokes’ live streaming service for La Liga games.

That’s the plug done, now on to the game. This is going to be one-way traffic with Celta thrashing Vallecano in the corresponding fixture last term and they’re now unbeaten in six league outings too.

The visitors have lost six of their last nine on their travels and are in for more pain in Spain.
