Seek out that goal-scoring value with Bafetimbi Gomis and Co

Swansea’s Garry Monk may be frustrated that his side’s performance against Chelsea last week didn’t get the credit it deserved, but here at Ladbrokes News we took note of the Swans’ battling performance.

In securing in a 2-2 draw against the champions, the Liberty Stadium outfit showed that in a frontline led by Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew, they could have plenty of goals in them.

Throw them into the mixing bowl with Newcastle United, who came back from a goal down against Southampton last Sunday to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw, and an 9/1 win could be in store.

That is the price Ladbrokes are quoting for the weekend’s fixture between the two to feature the most goals of all the Premier League ties, and it looks cracking value.

The number of goals scored in both the sides’ openers was only usurped by Leicester’s undoing of a very shaky Sunderland defence, and Dick Advocaat is sure to have his team better drilled as they face Norwich this time round.

Meetings between the Magpies and Monk’s men delivered on the goal front last season, with 2-2 and 3-2 scorelines ensuring the fans were certainly entertained.

The north east side certainly aren’t ones for leaving their away travelling short on goalmouth action, with four of Newcastle’s last six fixtures away from St James’ Park have seen three or more strikes.

While they struggle to keep sides out on the road – they’ve kept one away clean sheet in 15 competitive fixtures – their hosts are far from watertight.

Many teams treat their home stadium as a fortress, refusing to budge when their visitors attempt to break through, but that cannot be said for Swansea.

The Liberty Stadium faithful have seen their team keep just three clean sheets in their last 14 competitive fixtures in Glamorgan, and that number looks set to rise again.

With the dangerous frontline of Gomis and Ayew set to lead the line against a Newcastle outfit boasting a shiny new striker of their own in Aleksandar Mitrovic, this one could see plenty of goals.

The bookies have priced up Liverpool’s tie against newly promoted Bournemouth as the most likely encounter to see the most goals at 6/1, but that looks based on reputation more than anything.

The Cherries were hardly disgraced against Aston Villa last week, while it took the Reds all of 86 minutes and a Philippe Coutinho wonder strike to get past Stoke.

So ignore the favourite, and seek out a bit of value in this new Ladbrokes market.
