Scottish Championship: Alloa v Rangers tipped to be goalfest

Published:

Anyone venturing to Indodrill Park this weekend to see Alloa Athletic host title favourites Rangers is sure to see a hatful of goals.

That is according to the latest odds from league sponsors Ladbrokes, which suggest Sunday’s 12:30 kick-off will be the highest scoring game of the weekend from the second tier.

The bookmaker has installed the game as the firm 3/1 favourite to deliver the most goals and with eight strikes seen between the two sides after just one game it’s clear to see why.

The Gers kept up their pre-season and cup form in their season opener to beat newly-relegated St Mirren 3-1, while Athletic got off to a miserable start by losing to Queen of the South by the same scoreline.

With this in mind the 13/5 about the Ibrox outfit being the highest scoring team of the weekend, while somewhat predictable, should also attract plenty of attention.

However, while Gers may be the favourites, QoS look well placed to give them a run for their money.

James Fowler’s side looked good value for their 3-1 win over Alloa on the opening weekend and with Livingston going down 3-0 to Raith Rovers Iain Russell, who bagged a brace last time out, will be keen to add to his tally.

With that in mind the 4/1 on Livingston v QoS being the highest scoring Ladbrokes Championship game of the weekend should be considered a lively outsider.

However, with Livingston not looking likely to hold up their end of the bargain goal-wise the 15/2 on the Doonhammers topping the scoring charts for fixture round two looks simply too good to ignore.
