More pain heading Hibernian’s way courtesy of rampant Rangers

Published:

Hibernian have already been on the wrong side of a Rangers pasting this season and the bad news for the Edinburgh outfit is that the Gers, whom they face next, have gone from strength to strength since that point.

The headline clash from the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship fixture list this weekend, the TV cameras will be out on Sunday lunchtime to catch all the action from Ibrox.

And as the match odds imply, it could be tough afternoon in store for the Scottish capital side, who were roundly thrashed 6-2 at Easter Road by Rangers, albeit in the Petrofac Training Cup, to start their season off on a terrible footing.

Rangers are strong 8/13 favourites for successive wins over Hibernian, with the visitors installed as big 4/1 outsiders and the draw set at 31/10.

Although Hibs twice left Glasgow with the points last season before eventually going down 2-0 in the Championship play-off first leg at Ibrox, a summer of frenzied activity has seemingly transformed Rangers under new boss Mark Warburton.

What appeared to be something of a gamble on a fairly rookie English manager has so far struck the jackpot, with Warburton and his new-look Blues recording five straight wins in league and cup.

Even more impressively, the goals have flowed like champagne at a wedding, where the 2-0 League Cup win at Ayr took the seasonal tally up to 19 last time out.

Meanwhile, Alan Stubbs’ troops have managed to beat League Two Montrose in the cup and most recently scraped past Championship newbies Morton at Easter Road, though a 2-1 loss at Dumbarton in between proved a leveller.

The loss of star midfielder Scott Allan was always going to have a detrimental impact on Hibs and although Stubbs’ will feel able to kick on as the season progresses, catching Rangers in this mood is bad timing.

Over 1.5 goals for this rampant Rangers side looks a must at 4/7, while more than 3.5 in the game as a whole looks good value also at 6/4.

With five goals in only three appearances to date, Gers legend Kenny Miller is showing his huge worth yet again early in 2015/16, making him a great pick for Ladbrokes’ Sharp Shooter offer, where you’ll double your odds if your First Goalscorer bet scores in the opening 25 minutes in selected live TV games*.

Ladbrokes are also running a price boost from midday Saturday where Rangers to win and both teams scoring will be enhanced from 7/4 out to 9/4.
