McGregor move another twist in Rangers-Hibs relationship

Following the long protracted transfer tussle between Rangers and Hibernian over the latter’s prized asset, few of us expected headlines to be made by a player going in the opposite direction.
Championship Player of the Year Scott Allan was the subject of relentless interest from table topping Rangers, with three separate bids turned down by the Hibees.
Allan tried to push through the transfer as he seemed determined to move to the team he supported growing up.
The Edinburgh club held firm however, insisting they had no intention in selling to a direct competitor and in the end he joined the Premiership champions Celtic instead
But in a new twist, Darren McGregor has made the trip from Glasgow to Edinburgh to hook up with Hibs.
Despite only three months ago being named the Ibrox club’s Player of the Season the versatile defender was somewhat surprisingly released yesterday by the Govan outfit.
The Gers have brought in Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan as their central defensive partnership, leaving McGregor on the sidelines
And although there was rumoured interest from St Johnstone, it seems the Leither had his heart set on a move to his boyhood heroes. The capital outfit certainly wasted little time as they announced their new signing on a two-year deal.
This is sure to ramp up the tension between Easter Road gaffer Alan Stubbs and his counterpart Mark Warburton.
There has been a rather ugly public spat between the pair recently. The Gers boss hit back at reported suggestions from Stubbs that he has it easy managing Rangers, with all the money to spend
The two sides met on the pitch last weekend, with Rangers coming out 1-0 winners.
Will this transfer help the men in green claw back the early six point deficit? It will certainly be fascinating to see how this will affect relations between the two clubs as the season progresses.
