Latest draw dials up Spurs’ need for busy deadline day

Tottenham’s third successive draw leaves the north London club drifting in Ladbrokes’ top four market and further hammers home Mauricio Pochettino’s need for new signings before the transfer window closes.
A four-game goal drought for last term’s hero, Harry Kane, is far from the end of the world, but the lack of support the Englishman has from the bench is only highlighting his problems in front of goal.
After the stalemate with Everton at White Hart Lane, Spurs are still without a win this season and are 14/1 to break into the Champions League places with Ladbrokes.
Their starting XI, which saw Moussa Dembele play on the right wing and Eric Dier continue his holding midfield role, is looking increasingly unbalanced as the Argentine tactician sells off the club’s fringe but fail to bring new faces in.
Heung-min Son, signed from Bayer Leverkusen this week, is another forward in the Erik Lamela mould, who can play across the line behind the main striker, but the club sorely require a player to lead the line, as well as a dominant midfielder.
Links with West Brom’s Saido Berahino continue to receive column inches, while Sunday’s press carried reports that the Lilywhites were interested in signing Alex Song from Barcelona.
The former Arsenal midfielder spent last season on loan at West Ham and was believed to be heading back to Upton Park permanently this term.
That deal has never materialised though and Spurs could swoop to sure up their midfield with the Cameroon international.
The Hammers are still in the hunt for Song, who is also being trailed by Juventus, but Pochettino believes he could land his man before the window closes.
That would allow Dier to be played in his natural position in central defence, while securing Berahino would take some of the expectation off Kane up front.
